[edit] Course Description
Provides students with the opportunity to deepen the knowledge and skills they gained in LIS 505, and to acquire new tools for understanding and managing the impact of a rapidly changing environment. Emphasis will be on tools and skills that prepare students for the practical challenge of managing library and information management agencies through turbulent times of change that comes from within the organization and in response to a rapidly changing environment.
- Objectives
- Students will be able to initiate, manage and lead change initiatives effectively.
- Students will have a working knowledge of change management theory and profession and how ‘change management’ may relate to librarianship.
- Students will develop leadership skills and be able to coach others going through changes.
- Students will be able to anticipate and develop proactive and reactive strategies for dealing with externally driven change.
Prerequisites: LIS 505 or consent of instructor.
