Champaign Public Library

The Champaign Public Library is often maligned in GSLIS classes, principally because there are no CPL staff on the GSLIS staff. The CPL provides an interesting counterpoint to the Urbana Free Library along with a different point of view on library service. They "rent" new books that are especially popular, and generally have more audiobooks and videos. They have a branch as well, which has lots of DVDs in stock. They frequently sell off their multiple copies bestsellers and have good booksales (on the last day a bag of books is a dollar). They have an annual (at least) event at which they give old magazines away free. They also have a Bookmobile.
