What community where? Portal how and why?
Well, since everybody knows that the Internet is an alternative dimension, you have to enter it somehow, and by going through the community portal you ensure that you enter the internet in a supportive environment. -Ingbert
Why do you need a portal? The Internet is just a bunch of bits that your computer creatively interprets, enabling you to participate in the consensual hallucination that the Internet is a nice looking car.
