Public Information About People
The wiki is completely public. Posting here is no different than posting on any other public website, posting someone's name in a file stored in your LEEP storage space, or publishing something in a Newspaper. If you are posting information about a particular person here whom you identify by name, it is polite to notify them that you are publicizing content about them. This is not to discourage anonymous postings that might be critical: See A Note on Anonymity below.
A Note on Anonymity
You are able to post to this Wiki without logging in, thus being "Anonymous". However, please be aware that "anonymous" is not really anonymous. The Wiki logs your IP address and allows people to see what IP address was used to make the posting. This could be used to trace from where the postings were made (building, university, community or world). Also, the GSLIS community is fairly small and it is not difficult to track people's postings across pages, even by IP address and possibly identify an individual through analyzing what pages they edit.
Reliability of Information
Like most wikis, the information in the UGWiki can be modified by anybody. Therefore, there is no way that you can rely on any of the information in this wiki as being true, without verifying it with a reliable outside source. Hopefully it will help you know where to start looking for the info.
Generic Disclaimer
The unofficial GSLIS wiki is a resource originally created by students in the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign's Graduate School of Library and Information Science as an experimental Knowledge Management system. This wiki is hosted remotely on a private server. The contents of this page are not officially sponsored by GSLIS, UIUC, or anybody else. Anybody can contribute, and people unaffiliated with the school or the university have made contributions to this page.

This Wiki is a great resource for GSLIS. Of course, some people may find this a safe way to rant. But please also balance it with constructive criticism.
The faculty know about the Wiki and have been invited to participate.
Also, anonymous posting has its place, but logging in promotes the sense of a trusting community.
Please remember the objectives of the UGWiki are to improve GSLIS by sharing our knowledge, and providing constructive criticism. We are here to support each other and, with luck, make our time in GSLIS better by sharing our insights and experiences. I welcome your comments in the discussion page.
Thank you,

This is a place for students, alumni, faculty, staff, or anyone else interested in knowing more about the UIUC Graduate School of Library and Information Science. This Wiki lives by your contributions alone. In order for this to become a flourishing resource for GSLIS we need your support to keep it going strong!
Remember, this page is 'unofficial' and not directly affiliated or supported in anyway by the Graduate School or the University of Illinois. If you are looking for "Official" information about GSLIS, visit http://www.lis.uiuc.edu for all the official information you can use.
This site is owned and administered by Cameron Jones, a PhD student in GSLIS. If you have any ideas about other things we could put up here, please let Cameron know.
