Recommended software for your computer

If you get a new computer, or have never used a computer before, here are some recommended software tools. Many are free, some are Open Source,

Webbrowser

Firefox - The most secure web-browser, it is also the most convenient.

• The toolbar which you can customize to have your own bookmarks displayed on it is extremely useful and very easy to use.
• Firefox Extensions can be very useful.

Telephone Service over the Internet

Skype - fairly good sound quality, free Skype-to-Skype calls,

• Free Download:
  • http://www.skype.com/
• Extremely cheap long distance calls (they come out to about 3 cents a minute)
  • You buy it as a pre-paid thing.
• You need to buy a microphone for your computer to use Skype.
  • You can get a small, fairly cheap, high-quality microphone from Radio Shack.
