Bob Korfhage in 1965
Robert R. Korfhage was on the faculty of the first computer science department at Purdue University in 1962. At the University of Pittsburgh he taught classes in information retrieval and the mathematical foundations of information science. He led a research group on visualization interfaces for IR, and wrote textbooks on calculus, discrete computational structures, and information retrieval.

Dr. Korfhage was a very supportive advisor, and part of an advising lineage that goes back to Carl Friedrich Gauss.
